Dear Stella,
You are growing up too fast already! Today, you impressed me with your "sitting up skills." When we skyped with Gam Gam tonight, you showed her how you sit up. She was so proud of you!
I love you, my big girl!

Dear Stella,
I'm sorry that I haven't written to you in a while. We have been so busy doing fun things! Your great grandma and grandpa Lynch came to visit you last week. We went to Baltimore and you saw your very first dolphin show at the aquarium there. You also came with Grandma to cheer Daddy and me on while we ran a 5k race. You are the best little cheerleader!
You roll from back to tummy and tummy to back over and over and over again! So, you are on the move! I think you are on the fast track to crawling. I'm so proud of you! You are such a sweet, beautiful little girl.
Love,
Mom

Dear Stella:
You are the BEST motivation for me when I am working out or running. You just sit there smiling and giggling at me. I absolutely love it! I am excited for when I am able to get a jogging stroller so that you can actually come running outside with me. It will take a lot of training to get used to pushing your stroller while I run, but for now we are stuck inside on the treadmill.
I snapped this cute little picture of you today while you were sucking your thumb and your dolly's thumb. You are such a sweet baby girl!

Dear Stella,
We've had such a great long, Labor Day weekend so far. We spent Friday up in Philadelphia. Dad and I enjoyed a philly cheesesteak from the famous Pat's King Steaks, we visited the Liberty Bell, Love Park, Reading Terminal Market, Ben Franklin's grave site, and we saw the Betsy Ross house. You were such a good little girl the whole day- loving the ride you got in the Baby Bjorn carrier. Dad and I switched off carrying you in the carrier because you are getting to be a big girl so we get tired carrying you for a long time.
On the ride home you got pretty mad so we stopped at a roadside plaza to grab a quick dinner and change your diaper. Once we got back in the car, you slept the rest of the way home and all night. Dad and I enjoyed taking turns riding in the backseat with you to keep you happy.
I love you little girl and your big cheeks, too!

Dear Stella:
You are so cute! Today you wore a onesie that my friend Liz (your godmother) and her sister, Sarah brought for you when they came to visit a couple weeks ago. It has a pretend facebook profile printed on it with information that a baby would have if they actually had facebook. It's pretty funny! You really like sitting in your Bumbo chair and you look like such a big girl in it. You are the best little girl ever! I love you!

Dear Stella:
Yesterday you experienced your very first earthquake! You, Grandma Lisa, Clare, Patrick, and I were at the pool and all of a sudden we felt shaking. At first I thought Patrick was just being silly and shaking my chair, but then I saw the concrete moving back and forth and heard the gate clanging. We later found out that it was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake that happened in Virginia - about 100 miles south of us. Daddy was at work at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD and I couldn't get a hold of him on the phone for a while because everyone was trying to make phone calls at the same time so the phone system crashed. We are all safe and you slept right through the whole thing. You are such a sweetheart.

Dear Stella:
This weekend we took you to Harper's Ferry, WV. You were a really good girl and had fun riding on the front of daddy.
Your teeth are bothering you a lot so you have been extra fussy and chewing on your bottom lip a lot. You're doing so well eating your rice cereal at night before bed. We've started feeding you the cereal with a spoon before your bath. In about one more month we will be able to start feeding you pureed vegetables. I love you, little girl!

Dear Stella:
I took you in for your 4 month check-up yesterday. You weigh almost 16 pounds and you are about 24 inches long. The doctor said you are a big, healthy girl. You also had to get 3 shots and one oral vaccination. I feel so bad when you get stuck with those needles. You always let out a loud scream and start crying really hard right after they stick you. I made sure to have a bottle ready to give you right away so that you could calm down. You are such a strong little girl. I love you so much!

Your Grandma and Grandpa Finnegan and your Aunt and Uncles came to visit you this week. Mom and Dad celebrated our first wedding anniversary last night. We've had such a great first year of marriage - especially with the addition of you! We love you so much! On our date last night, we bought you 2 new books. It was our first date out here since you were born and we missed you so much even though we were only gone for about 2 hours. You've been enjoying your extra snuggle time with all of the visitors we have!

Dear Stella:
You, dad, and I went to Kohl's tonight. I picked out some underwear for myself and quickly put them in the stroller by you. I didn't even think about what I was doing because you were getting fussy so I was more concerned about getting you calmed down. By the time we got to the checkout, you were crying so hard that the people in line let us go to the front so that we didn't have to wait. We quickly checked out and got you settled in the car. I looked down at your hands and saw you playing with something pink and lacy... my underwear! oops! You accidentally stole mommy's underwear from Kohl's!
I still think you're the best!

Dear Stella:
I had to take you to the pediatrician today because you have a rash on your tummy. It started last night and looked worse this morning. The doctor said it's probably just a heat rash from how humid it has been out here. When the doctor was putting away the intsrument used to look in your ears, she accidentally dropped it on the side of your head. I felt SO bad for you. You screamed and cried so loud and it left a little bump and bruise. My poor baby girl. You are such a little sweetheart. I love you, baby!

Yesterday you came to the dentist with me. It was horrible. You screamed almost the entire time. I think you were mad because you couldn't see me. And the dentist accidentally dropped a glob of toothpaste into my eyeball. It hurt so, so bad. I just wanted to grab you and hold you and get out of there.
I love you sweet little Stella.

Dear Stella,
You qualified for physical therapy to treat your torticollis so that means we will have a lot of exercises to do in order to stretch out your neck. We did the stretches a lot today and I think you are a little more fussy because your neck is probably sore. I feel so bad when you cry today because it seems like you are crying in pain and there isn't much I can do to help you. I love you so, so much! You are the prettiest little baby girl.

I haven't written to you in a while. I'm sorry. You have started to suck your thumb more and more. It is so cute! You even pull your paci out and stick your thumb in. You rolled over for the first time last weekend, but you haven't done it again yet. Hopefully I will be prepared with the camera when you decide to rock n' roll again. You get more beautiful every day. And, I think you also start to look more like your daddy every day. I love you little girl!

Dear Stella,
We had another fun day together. Just you and mom. You slept a lot, though. This afternoon we were able to Skype (video chat) with Grandma Lynch, Aunt Peggy and your cousins Chloe and Meg. I put you in your purple Bumbo seat in front of the computer so they could see you. They think you are so cute and that you are getting so big! You even showed them a few of your beautiful smiles.
I can be in a really bad mood and having a horrible day, but when I see your smile - nothing else in the world matters but you. Love you sweetie pie!

Best job in the world
Dear Stella,
Yesterday I had an interview for a job to be a preschool teacher. I was hoping the school would have a spot open in the infant room for you, but they didn't. Daddy and I talked about it and decided that I won't work a full-time job until we get to our next duty station. That means I get to spend the first year of your life with you at home! I am so so happy because being a mom is the greatest job in the world. You are the best baby! Every time I tried to get you to take a nap today, you would look at me with those big blue eyes and give me the biggest smile. You make my heart melt. I love you so much little Stella and I can't wait to see what adventures you have in store for me!

Decisions, decisions...
Dear Stella,
We spent some time playing and reading today, but most of the time you just slept and ate. I think you are in a growth spurt. Your favorite books are "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". You like to look at the bright illustrations and I use a silly voice when I read to you.
This afternoon I have an interview to work at a place called The Goddard School. I would love work, but I really enjoy staying home with you and watching you grow everyday. I also worry about sending you to a daycare because you are more likely to get sick and it's very expensive. So, daddy and I will have a big decision to make.
I love you so much. You are the best little baby girl in the whole world!

Sleepy.
Dear Stella,
Well, last night you didn't sleep as well as you have been lately. But, that's ok. You are so precious in the middle of the night. And, you must have been tired because you took a nice, long nap this afternoon.
We were able to do some tummy time and play today, too. You love to look at your Baby Einstein octopus and shake the rattle on him. I have so much fun watching you discover everything around you.
Looking forward to another fun day with you tomorrow!

My first letter to you
Dear Stella:
I decided to start writing this letter-a-day blog to you so that you can read it when you are older and know all of the fun things we did together. You are almost 3 months old when I am starting this so I have a little catching up to do. You were born 2 weeks early on April 17 at 12:29 p.m. at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Dad is in the Navy so we are living in Maryland right now. I was due to have you on May 2, but around 4 am on April 17 I got up to go to the bathroom and felt contractions. I woke dad up and told him I wasn't sure if they were actually contractions or just "in my head" because I wanted to have you in my arms and out of my tummy so badly. I called Labor and Delivery and told them I thought I might be having contractions so they had me come in.
We got to the hospital around 7:15 am. The doctors were in a meeting so the nurse took me to the triage room and hooked me up to monitors to hear your heartbeat and to keep track of my contractions, which were regular and strong. The nurse was in and out of the room to check on me once in a while and I told dad to go get her so that she could unhook the monitors because I had to go to the bathroom, but only about 10 seconds later when he was looking for the nurse - my water broke! I knew that I would definitely be meeting my sweet little baby that day. I was so, so excited! The doctor was pulled out of the meeting and came in to check on me. She said that I was going to have you very soon - sooner than we thought!

I got some medicine to help take away some of the pain and about 3 hours later (at 10:30 am) they had me start pushing to get you out. I thought it was going to be really hard and tiring, but it was amazing! Dad was right by side helping the whole time. He held my hand and made me smile and laugh until you were born at 12:29 pm. We didn't know if you were going to be a girl or a boy because we wanted to be surprised. Dad was VERY surprised because he thought I was going to have a boy, but when the doctor announced, "It's a girl!" We were both so, so happy! You weighed 6 lbs, 15 oz. and you were 19.5 inches long. I cried the first time that I held you because I was so happy to have you in my arms. You are a beautiful little baby and we love you so much! You have grown so much in the first 3 months of your life and you have given more joy and love to your daddy and me than we ever thought we could experience. Thanks for being you! We love you little Stella. You are such a blessing!
